 Music Director - David Leggett                                                                     President - Dennis O'Neill

   A native of Aberystwyth, David was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Penweddig, Aberystwyth before moving to Cardiff in order to pursue a Music Degree at the Uniniversity of Wales, Cardiff where he was awarded the David Evans Memorial Prize. He furthered his studies at postgraduate level gaining an MA in Musicology with specific focus on Polish Choral Music in the 20th Century. Although a principal study trumpeter at university, David’s keen interest in choral singing and directing now takes up most of his time. As a former member of the National Youth Choir of Wales he was afforded the opportunity to sing under the direction of some of the nations leading Choral Directors and has benefited greatly form the inspired direction of Ralph Allwood. He has also been fortunate to focus on choral direction in master classes with Peter Broadbent and Jo McNally with financial assistance from the Association of British Choral Directors and at university was the Assistant Choral Director of the University Choral Society.

   David has always been actively involved in music making and was President of the Cardiff University Music Society from 2000-2001. He is currently Organist and Director of Music at Eglwys Dewi Sant, Cardiff, the first recipient of the Rosser Scholarship, and also finds time to continue singing with Cantemus Chamber Choir Wales and Cytgan. In 2003 David became a music teacher at Chepstow Comprehensive School and is currently Director of Music at Bishop Vaughan Comprehensive School, Swansea. David also actively supports amateur music making in Wales and is a members of the    Executive Committee of the Welsh Amateur Music Federation and the Advisory Committee of the National Youth Choir of Wales. David is but a few months younger than Helena Braithwaite was when she became Musical Director of the Cardiff Ardwyn Singers in 1969 and he is proud to be the third Musical Director of this celebrated choir.

ACCOMPANIST

Janice obtained her B.Mus degree from University College, Cardiff, and is also an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. She has been the choir's accompanist since 1969. Janice has appeared on the concert platform in Canada, USA, Japan, Israel, Russia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and most Western European countries, and has accompanied choirs and soloists on the organs of the world's most splendid churches, cathedrals and concert halls. Recently she was invited to Barbados for a very successful concert tour. Janice does a great deal of work for radio and television and is also accompanist for the National Youth Choir of Wales. At present she lectures at the School of Music Education in the University of Wales, Cardiff, and is very busy with the Council for Music in Hospitals.
